Falkiner Crescent Residence

The site had been vacant for many years and considered an unworkable leftover from a subdivision. The site was very steep and undulating, however had excellent position and views across to the Hunter River. The site also featured 2 x easements which further enhanced siting difficulties for a house.

The client engaged BDD to create a 4 bed 2 bath home that captured the views and could deal with the site constraints. The client also had a tight budget for the home.

BDD utilized the easement lines, site contours and view paths to create an interesting site layout that sits comfortably on the site. The main living areas feature a private internal courtyard and a nice deck area to enjoy the views. The master bed occupies the 2 story element of the design and acts like a command module on top of the house. The master bed has sweeping views and feature bath in which to sit back and relax to take it all in.

The client wanted a bold and striking home. Utilizing lightweight framing/cladding we created a very bold and angular statement. The house utilizes FC cladding, colorbond cladding, hardwood timber in varying colours and textures to create an iconic home in the urban landscape.
